Points Mission Statement: The mission
of the Collinsville Unit 10 Starting Points Program in partnership with parents, is to
give children the best possible start in life. What is Starting Points? Starting Points is a service for both you and your baby and it's free! The program is designed to provide parents who are expecting a child or have a child up to 5 years of age, with information on child development, health and nutrition. Parenting skills are affirmed and parents are aided in being their child's first and best teacher. Parents are informed of the services and resources in their community. What Services Does Starting Points Offer? Personal visits: Our staff will work with you and your child to expand skills that will enhance your child's development. Visits can be provided in your home. Because they are time consuming, visits are limited to a small number of families. Parent to Parent Time: Weekly groups offer another time for parents to meet with staff and other families. Sessions include parent/child activities and individualized child development and parenting information. Newsletter: Interested families will receive a newsletter with developmental information and program events. Parent Meetings: A wide variety of topics are offered for surviving everday parenting. Family Lending Library: Families can borrow books and other materials pertaining to pregnancy, children and family issues along with toys, children's books and videos. Referral Services: Our staff will connect families with area services as requested. Child Developmental Screening: Children are screened yearly. Our staff discusses areas of strengths and weaknesses with the parent. Call the Pre-Kindergarten office at 346-6305. The staff will be glad to tell you more about our program. It may be just what your child needs! Page Updated 12/03/2009
