The
Cougars got 23 points from Edvinas Presniakovas as they rolled to a 60-55
win over Belleville Althoff. The lead exchanged hands several times
before Plainfield South was able to pull away late in the fourth quarter.
Plainfield took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Darrell Collins.
Althoff was lead in scoring by David Franklin with 15 points.
After
suffering their first loss of the season yesterday to Quincy, the
Railsplitters regrouped with a 47-39 victory over the host Kahoks.
Lincoln lead the Kahoks 15-4 after the first quarter. Collinsville was
able to cut into the lead and only trailed 20-17 at the half.
Collinsville managed to hold Lincoln sharp shooter Jordan Nelson to only two
points the whole game. The Kahoks would eventually take a 25-24 lead
with 1:24 left in the third quarter on a basket by Daryn Foster.
Lincoln responded by going on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Foster had a game high 16 points.
elleville
East Lancers earned their spot in the Holiday Classic chamiponship with a
70-58 win over Quincy. Sean Pettiford and Kalaehl Ferguson scored 20 points
each for the Lancers. East extended their two point half time lead in the
third quarter and never looked back. In the other game Glenwood beat Urbana
60-56 in the auxiliary gym. Tyler Thurston scored 23 points for the Titans.
Jordan
Nelson's 29 points helped fuel Lincoln to defeating Plainfield South 57-56
for 5th place. Nelson hit a tournament record 9 three pointers
including one with :10 seconds left in regulation to give the Railers a
57-54 lead. After the basket by Nelson, William Nixon hit two free
throws to cut the lead to 57-56. The game was tied at 54 after Edvinas
Presniakovas made three free throws. Presiakovas led Plainfield South with
21 points.
Championship 44-38. Oakville led by as many as ten in the first half before
going into the break with a 32-28 lead. Oakville had a lead in the fourth
quarter until Glenwood tied the game at 38-38 on a lay-up by Craig Fuchs.
Oakville ended the game on a 6-0 run all on free throws. Javier Duren had
16 points for Oakville. TJ Gates lead Glenwood with 20
points.
Third Place game. Quincy's Mitch Marold hit two free throws with seven
seconds to get a 60-59 lead. Deshawn Munson made a lay up in front of the
buzzer for the East St. Louis victory. Munson finished with 23 points to
lead the Flyers. Deangelo Dean was the hot hand for Quincy scoring 22
points.
Belleville
East outlasted Springfield Southeast 71-64 to
win the 2010 Schnucks Holiday Classic title. This is the second title
for the Lancers with the other one coming in 2005. Southeast's Chris Davis tied
the game at 37-37 with a layup to start the second half. Belleville
East went on an 8-0 run and Springfield Southeast never regained the lead.
East would build a ten point lead during the fourth quarter. East was
able to hit their free late in the game to seal the victory. Tournament

Hill led Belleville East with 26 points.
