What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology (AT) services and devices are defined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  During the IEP process, AT must be considered for each child and then provided by the district if required in the IEP.

Collinsville Assistive Technology Support

Collinsville Special Education has a new support group.  The CATS team will develop workshops and support for assistive technology tools throughout the district. The team is in the process of developing the first workshop to be held on January 26th from 4-6 at the computer lab at Renfro School. The focus of the workshop will be to introduce the participants to assitive technology.  The goal will be to explain and be introduced to low, mid and hi tech assitive technology. The participants will also learn tips and tricks to make the computers in their classroom more accessible to all students.

Collinsville Unit 10 is a member of the Infinitec Techology Coalition.   Infinitec provides training, equipment, software, and consultation to member districts.
